Reid was 5 years old when he died and went to the Angels Playground. He had been battling cancer for 3 years. On earth, he loved his family and everything to do with garbage trucks. He loved watching the trucks, playing with toy trucks, and even sorting recycling from garbage. We will remember Reid finding happiness in all things even trash.

"We did it!" Those were words Levi loved to say, and they feel especially fitting after this incredible weekend.
We were honored to be part of the Midwest Child Life Conference, Making Waves, and what a wave of kindness and impact it turned out to be!
A special thank you to Aunt Brandy, who served as the closing keynote speaker. She shared the story of LOVEfromLevi, our mission, and the incredible impact Child Life Specialists have on children and families facing serious illnesses. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share Levi's legacy and the work being done in his honor.
After the keynote, more than 100 amazing Child Life professionals stayed for our book-making session. Together, they assembled over 750 book pages and countless accessories. Because of their hard work, we'll be able to send out many more books in the coming weeks as we work through our queue of more than 200 orders.
Every day, Child Life Specialists help take away some of the "hospital scaries" that children face. We are so honored to support them by providing books that help prepare, comfort, and empower the kids in their care.
This weekend would not have been possible without an incredible team of volunteers:

💙 Big Brother Owen and Grandma Lorry, our amazing resident felt cutters.
💙 Grandpa Jim, who proudly served as our book ambassador, showing off completed books around the room and spreading excitement.
💙 Daddy Zack for holding down the fort allowing Mommy Beth time to do all the unseen prep for the conference.
💙 Aunt Brandy for sharing our story so beautifully.
💙 Emily, Laura, and the conference leadership committee for organizing the conference, inviting us to speak and hold a book-making session.
And while all of this was happening, our Sewing Sisters gathered for a sewing potluck and completed the finishing touches on another 150 pages!
There are countless other volunteers and donors who give their time, money, talents, and hearts to make this mission possible. Every page cut, every stitch sewn, every book assembled helps a child facing a difficult medical journey.
This work happens because of an amazing community that believes in Levi's legacy and the power of helping children feel a little less scared.
So to everyone who volunteered, sewed, assembled, cheered us on, and supports LOVEfromLevi in any way:

And because there's still more work to do, we'll keep going... one book, one child, and one smile at a time.

We were hard at work this weekend. Sewing our books has been our bottleneck to getting the books out to the kids. Luckily for us a wonder group of ladies stepped up. These sewers brought their machines and sewed over 300 pages. They even volunteered and are taking more pages for homework. With their assistance our production speed will greatly increase. This page makes me sad because it is for another kid with medulloblastoma. Medulloblastoma is a fast-growing, cancerous brain tumor that can quickly spread to other parts of the brain and spinal cord. This is what Levi had. This page represents the first step in treatment: brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor that you can. Levi had his within 48 hours of being diagnosed. This is a hard thing to explain to a 3 year old. The LovefromLevi hospital book is designed to fill this need. We are proud to be helping support all these kiddos through their medical journeys.

A big thanks to Iowa City Noon Optimist Club. They let us put up a booth at their fantastic pancake breakfast at the airport this morning. We met so many great people (over two hundred visited our booth). It was especially nice to catch up with a couple of kiddos who previously received a book or customized stuffie. Now a lot more people are aware of and support LovefromLevi. Thanks again! ...
It’s been a little quiet around here lately, but for very good reason!
The LovefromLevi team has been hard at work, getting books into the hands of children and families who need them the most. Today alone we are sending out 18 books, and so far this year we’ve provided 60 books to children facing medical challenges, each book a customize for a child to represent their own personal medical journey.
We are also humble to share that we have more than 200 children on our waitlist. As a small nonprofit run by a passionate group of volunteers, we are working as quickly and thoughtful as we can. While the need can be overwhelming, we are choosing to celebrate what has been accomplished so far and look forward to all the kids we will support in the months ahead.
