Levi Is The Reason For Everything We Do
At the age of 3, Levi was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of medulloblastoma, a pediatric brain cancer.
Although he was taken from us too soon, for 13 months he showed us all how to find brightness even in the darkest times. And now, we honor him by spreading that to others through gifts of customized books and toys.

Reid was 5 years old when he died and went to the Angels Playground. He had been battling cancer for 3 years. On earth, he loved his family and everything to do with garbage trucks. He loved watching the trucks, playing with toy trucks, and even sorting recycling from garbage. We will remember Reid finding happiness in all things even trash.
Another custom made page for a Love from Levi hospital book. This little girl was nervous and upset about losing her hair. So we made a page where she can switch between a wig, fancy hat or baseball hat. We hope this page helps her see that it can still be fun to dress up. We had many “magic hats” for Levi. He loved his paw patrol and blaze hats the best.

LovefromLevi made another custom page for one of their hospital books. This time it is to help a little girl get ready for her new artificial eye. In this process a liquid, moldable alginate mixture is made., The mixture is injected into to fill the entire socket cavity, setting in approximately 90–120 seconds. The solidified impression is removed and used to create a plaster cast, which serves as an exact replica of the socket's contours. A wax pattern is made from the mold to test for fit and comfort before the final acrylic prosthesis is created. Once the new eye ball is made, it is carefully inserted. We hope this page helps her through the casting process and she enjoys her new eye!

We've introduced a new page for the LovefromLevi hospital book. This page is about High-Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation devices, or percussion vests. These devices use inflatable vibrating vests to loosen mucus in the lungs and are designed for treating chronic conditions like cystic fibrosis. The page turned out really cute where the vest is Velcro into place with rubber tubing attached to the machine. We hope this page helps kids get through their shakey vest treatments.

We would like to express our thanks to Child Life at The University of Iowa student group . This remarkable group of students helped us to create 187 pages for hospital books at a bookmaking party this week. In addition to their contribution, these students are future Child Life Specialists. They will play a significant role in helping children navigate medical procedures with confidence. Special recognition goes to Trina and Tiffany for their help with setup, breakdown, and training. It is amazing how many volunteers and donors work to make these books possible.

LovefromLevi donated two dozen specially modified stuffed animals to the child life team at the University of Iowa Hospital's North Liberty campus. These cuddly companions are destined for the orthopedic clinic, where they will accompany young patients undergoing spinal fusion, hip spica casts, serial casting, forearm crutch training, and other procedures. We are delighted to provide these stuffed friends to offer emotional support to children navigating these medical procedures, striving to make their experiences as comfortable as possible.

Our organization created some stuffed animals equipped with spinal fusion back braces. These types of braces provide crucial support to the spine by limiting movement, which is essential for effective bone fusion. The stuffed animals, complete with their specially designed back braces, will be shared with the Child Life Team at Stead Family Hospital, with the hope of bringing happiness and reassurance to children facing spinal fusion surgery. #LoveFromLevi ... The Child Life team at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital reached out to us with a special request for stuffed animals with hip spica casts. These casts are used to immobilize the hips and legs after surgery or fractures, allowing for proper healing. We're thrilled with how the stuffed animals turned out after a few tries. Hopefully, they'll bring joy and comfort to the kids going through this medical procedure.
